Lee: First, introduce yourself to the readers, who you are, what you do, where you're from, how many albums you got completed under your belt and the crew you represent.

Omni: What's up folks, my name is OMNI aka OMNIPREZ, I'm from Los Angeles, I represent the universe, I got 3 solo albums completed and I am formerly from Gershwin BLX crew (Los Angeles collective).

L: I first heard your work on the FunkaDafied Freddy cd which I received through Sean more than a couple of years ago. Who were some of the people that covered the reviews for this album and how did you feel about those reviews?

O: Uhmm... Damn, I really don't check reviews you gotta ask Molman about those. I do remember him telling me that I was getting love and a few cats was not feeling it, but oh well u cant win them all... that's not my intentions either way.

L: Being your debut release, what ideas crossed your mind when you walked into putting together the FunkaDafied Freddy album?

O: Well my crew just disbanded and I was like, fuck it, I want 2 do me, so I went in just recording. Funkdafied Freddy was a character that I played with so I do some aimless recording with him... trying to keep it funky, not really on topic just fun rap..I enjoyed it...

L: The intro on Funkdafied Freddy is titled "Burgundy Brown". Would you say that you were already set on releasing an album titled "Burgundy Brown" before the Funkdafied LP or was it an idea that was built up after the release of Funkdafied?

O: Yeah I planned out my first 3 albums. Burgundy Brown is a color and a mood. That's what sound you heard on Funkdafied Freddy as far as the intro (waves clashing over a funky melodic beat). I tried to describe a color in sound and a mood in color (confused yet... hahaha). Also, what's the phrase burgundy brown all about? It is a mood and color of passion, love, art and life. That's what I see when I think of burgundy brown...

L: With the Funkdafied Freddy and Burgundy Brown releases, the credits got about 10+ different names on the production work of your album. (Lefto, Iroc, Desk, Samba, Lego, Earganic, abcdefg, Left Hand, Vers a Tell, DVL, Jerboa, J. Moldanado, Mike III, Tradd and DJ Grazzhoppa). What's the process like for you as an MC in regards to how producers can get their sounds to you for input or possible collaborations on your projects?

O: Man if it's heat to me I'm going to rock it... Everyone on my albums are friends pretty much so they just continuously shoot me good tracks to choose from. I'm starting to produce but right now I depend on outside sources for my sound and my homies know what I like.

L: If you were to break down some details of what makes each of those producers unique from the other in terms of what they provide for you're rhymes, what would that be?

O: They are all from different walks of life, which is going to allow different sounds and outlooks and samples... Tradd, Grazzhoppa, DVL, Versa... they are all from Europe.. Samaba, leggo, Iroc are Cali producers. I work with Japan producers, cats all over... it allows a universal sound in my opinion.

L: How long have you been producing?

O: Less than a year... I'm trying to learn the tools involved as far as equipment and how to properly use them... I got the soul...

L: When did you first get involved in the field of producin' and who were some of your favorite producers back in the day?

O: I got involved since my Gershwin BLX days choosing samples and mixing and mastering the album with Molman. My favorite producers were DJ Quik, RZA, DR. DRE, Eligh, Grouch. I'm also feeling the Neptunes, Kanye West, Just Blaze... man there is 2 many to mention...hahaha...
